Croydon Sailing Club is one of the few clubs within London where there is an opportunity to sail with other enthusiasts with the emphasis on friendly competitive racing. By agreement with the London Borough of Croydon the club uses South Norwood Lake, six acres of former canal reservoir, situated between Crystal Palace and Norwood. There is a boat park and a small clubhouse.

The main classes of dinghy sailed are Byte, Topper, Comet, Heron and Mirror but any boat with a Portsmouth Yardstick rating and under 14'6" in length is acceptable.

Racing on handicap basis is organised on Sunday mornings all year round but members may sail independently at other times so long as they meet the Club's competency standards. There are normally two races each Sunday morning with the first starting at 10:30am.

The club does not undertake sailing instruction. Keen beginners can learn by crewing for more experienced members.

We are always pleased to encourage new members and are able to offer the chance to crew or use one of the club boats. We have three club dinghies, two Herons and one Fleetwind. We are not all experts so anyone just starting out or taking sailing up after a break is more than welcome.

If you would like know more please give our Secretary, John Camping, a call on 020 8777 5496, email us, or if you prefer just come along on Sunday morning to watch the racing, have a coffee, and a chat.

We offer junior, single, and family membership at the subscription rates below.

During the summer months there is Saturday sailing run by CYSSA for the under 18s.
